 arguing that undisclosed financial arrangements between NASA’s administrator and a

 major NASA contractor could undermine public trust.

Critics warn that Isaacman’s relationship with SpaceX — a dominant player in the

  nuclear electric propulsion, launching a long-term Mars exploration program, and

 adopting an “accelerate/fix/delete” management philosophy to overhaul the agency.

Many of the Project Athena proposals have proven controversial, particularly those

 involving NASA workforce reorganization, potential reductions in civil servant

 positions, and shifts in how the agency approaches scientific research and innovation.

At a December 3 confirmation hearing, Sen. Andy Kim of New Jersey said he had

 expected billionaire Jared Isaacman to more clearly distance himself from the most

 divisive elements of Project Athena, especially recommendations suggesting cuts to

  NASA civil servant jobs.

Although Sen. Kim initially supported Isaacman during the first round of the

 confirmation process earlier this year, he later rescinded his support and voted against
