““Sam Levinson Reveals Euphoria Season 3 Details: Social Media Obsession & a Major Wedding”

“Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson is revealing major details about Season 3 — including

the time jump fans have been questioning.

According to the BBC, Levinson shared new insights during a special event in London,

teasing what viewers can expect from the upcoming episodes of the hit HBO Max series.

He explained that the show’s young adult characters — played by Zendaya, Hunter

Schafer, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney — have significantly matured since Season 2,

which last aired in early 2022. (HBO Max is owned by CNN’s parent company.)

Levinson confirmed that the storyline moves ahead five years, saying the time gap “felt

natural,” noting that if the characters had gone to college, “they’d be out of college by

 that time.”

Levinson revealed major updates about Rue’s storyline in “Euphoria” Season 3,

explaining that Zendaya’s character is now “south of the U.S. border in Mexico,”

deeply in debt to Laurie (played by Martha Kelly) and forced to find “creative and

risky ways” to pay her back.

He also shared new details about Cassie and Nate, the characters portrayed by

Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi, hinting at significant developments for both in

 the upcoming season.

Levinson revealed that in “Euphoria” Season 3, Cassie is now living in the suburbs

with Nate, the two are engaged, and she has become heavily addicted to social

media. Her constant scrolling fuels intense envy toward the seemingly glamorous

lives her former high school classmates are living. Levinson teased that Cassie and

Nate’s upcoming wedding will be “unforgettable” for audiences.

Hunter Schafer’s character, Jules, is pursuing her passion in art school, while Alexa

Demie’s Maddy is working in Hollywood at a top talent agency. Maude Apatow’s

Lexi joins her in Los Angeles, serving as an assistant to a showrunner played by

 Sharon Stone.

Levinson emphasized that he believes Season 3 is the strongest installment yet.

“Euphoria” has already made history, earning Zendaya two Emmy Awards for

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series — first in 2020 at age 24, making her

the youngest winner in the category, and again in 2022, when she became the

youngest woman and the first Black woman to win the award twice.

However, several cast members will not return for Season 3, including Austin

Abrams, Barbie Ferreira, Algee Smith, and Storm Reid.

Angus Cloud, best known for his breakout role as Fezco — the gentle, loyal drug dealer

who shared a deep bond with Rue — passed away in 2023 at the age of 25.
